Cheap Gadget for NYC Subway

This is a very important gadget I use everytime I need to take the subway trains.  Before you go around the city, it is best to plan first your whereabouts.  A detailed plan of where you are going and what's the best transportation you want to use to suit your comfort.  If you hate traffic and parking issues, the best option is of course the subway trains.  In New York, the subways are properly labeled and almost every corner you will see big maps.  There are even maps inside the train and announcements for possible transfers to trains and buses.

I would like to suggest to use this gadget especially during the weekends.  There are repairs conducted which may change the routes of the trains.  So, for smooth flow of your travel, this gadget offers a big help.

Fave Shopping Place

It's been years that I enjoy visiting different thrifty stores wherever I go.  I thought that this favorite activity of mine will be over once I transferred residence to New York.  But, I'm definitely wrong! I even found a very nice thrifty store in New Rochelle.  I am so extremely H-A-P-P-Y!

I don't like going to malls actually.  I hate seeing those expensive items there lol  Maybe when I have abundant money that's the time I will have my revenge hahaha!  But, I think I am not concerned of it anymore.  I found now my favorite shopping destination which is just a few blocks from home.

Who will not be happy  of  a   50%   discount  to  clothes, shoes, and bags?  That's every Wednesday!  It's surprising to note that among the thrift stores I visited for years, this is the only one that offers another discount?

For those people like me who are thrift stores "enthuasiasts" hehehe of course we are the happiest in the world, right?  Salvation Army in New Rochelle, New York is big and the items are organized.  Name what you want and they have it hahahaha!

The furnitures are so nice.  They are still in good condition.  I think these are just the left-overs of the richest people in Westchester who like to buy anything they can afford.  There are even very nice ones and I think if you love vintage style, it's there.

Name the brands of shoes and bags you want and it's there.
You just need a little bit effort to find the right one for you.
And mind you, you will go home smiling.
You spent less yet ...
you got more :-)

Best Pizza!!!

At first I didn't believe that there is such best pizza.  I thought they are all the same. But hubby insisted that it's really yummy.  So, my stubborn mind said "Ok why not try?" hehehe   I am so thankful of my stubborn mind decision that afternoon.  Yeah, it's true! I can't explain it exactly but I know I felt like I was in paradise hahaha

It takes time to wait 'coz there are a lot of customers.  The place is so unique as to the design.  The ambiance is like you were into the old times having date with your love of your life.  I think it's a nice place to go for couples who have not been dating for long hahaha It may bring back memories...those times when you both are crazily in love hahaha

The Phantom of the Opera

I can't imagine how  different it was to watch "The Phantom of the Opera" in Broadway compared in the movie.  It was so amazing that I kept my eyes open the whole show  and  keep mumbling wow wow wow :-)

It's so hard to explain the kind of emotion I felt watching such excellent performance.  The songs, effects, love story, stage, music....in my opinion, I think everything in it is so wonderful.

Catch the show during afternoon so you get 50% discount.  Go to TKTS discount booths.   The line might be long but the 50% discount is worth enough the effort. :-)

Take a Chance to Bargain

I like to share with you our Chinatown experience.  We went to a jewelry shop and  a red necklace caught the attention of my sister-in law.  When she asked me if it's nice ...of course for me red things are very attractive to my eyes.  I am biased when it comes to color 'coz I always favor for red lol

The price of the necklace was not my type though.  Seeing it makes me forget that I love red  lol Even Sis told them that she liked it but the price so high.  There came the bargaining starts when the salesladies offered discounts and still it's high.

The saleslady asked how much Sis was willing to pay. The way I saw it : Sis was just telling them the truth of how much she likes to spend.   Upon hearing the price she uttered ...I thought it was way far from the price.  But oh my....to my surprise they gave it down to $40 from $480! Imagine the gap? lol Now, I realized that it's always best to take chance to bargain because we never know we can get it :-)

Fortune Cookie

Everytime we eat in a Chinese Restaurant, we always ask for a fortune cookie.  We like the taste and somehow read whatever written inside and laugh about it when it coincides with what's happening around our lives.  Until one day, hubby saw a sign "Fortune Cookie" and remembered a friend of him which he haven't seen for many years.  Whenever we have enough time before going to church, we usually go there and order our favorite food.  Until one Sunday, hubby finally met his long time friend Henry and to his surprise... the owner of the restaurant is him.  Sometimes, life is funny!

Fortune Cookie Restaurant offers variety of Chinese Food at an affordable price.  I can say that one serving of food is good for two hehehe It's a lot for me so hubby and I share lol

Take the 7 train going to Queens from Grand Central and get off at 45th Road ..and there is Henry during Sundays only helping his people inside his once a dream Fortune Cookie restaurant that has other branches too  in New York.

Museum Visit

Going to a museum was never my type of thing to do , until I visited the American Museum of Natural History.  It's so well organized and maintained.  There are a lot of things to see aside from American culture.  Different displays are available  of the countries around the world.  The best thing that amazed my curiosity are the displays of the dinosaur fossils and detailed information about them.

The Planetarium is also within the compound.  The space show "Journey to the Stars" is spectacular.  Don't ever miss it!

Massage for Less

When you arrive the city, I'm sure you're so tired from your trip from home. Even you had slept already in the hotel or any accommodation you have, you still feel the tension in your body from all the anxieties and movements you have in your travel ...and to mention the carrying of your baggage. For me, the best way to get away all of these and be refreshed again is a massage. Upon hearing such word, it's always in the back of our mind the cost...because we think that spa in the city is expensive.

No no no...we have a nice place to go. In Chinatown, there we find the cheap massage. To minimize the expense, we can choose the part of our body we want to have massage. And the thing that I like too is: there are choices as to how many minutes you like with a corresponding price tags.  I had a 12 minutes back massage for only $10 and I felt so good to go around the city after :-)

Statue of Liberty

Let's start our journey to visiting the Statue of Liberty. Going to Staten Island is a great experience. If you travel alone, it's better to join with the group with a tourist guide inside to maximize what you gonna see and learn. The area is so wide for you to end up going somewhere and miss the important things to see inside.

Going up to crown is usually the goal of everyone. In order to get to that level needs early reservation as the management is limiting the number of people to go up. Another thing to consider is to wear your most comfortable shoes because there are so much to walk and stairs to climb...and not mentioning the lines in waiting for the boat and security checks. :-)

Having tour during fall or winter time, it's best to bring extra piece of clothing which you think might give you the warmth you need in case change of temperature occurs. An appropriate clothing will really a great help to enjoy the moment of your tour in the island. As I did, I brought with me scarf and was really thankful I had it late in the afternoon ;-)
